I used to have a love/ hate relationship with the holidays. I loved the energy, the parties and getting to see friends and family, but I didn't love that voice in my head that analyzed all the food. I wanted to eat all the special dishes but I feared eating too much, gaining weight and ultimately that feeling of being out of control. I couldn't be completely in the moment because I was analyzing what choices I put on my plate; would people notice how much pie I took? Can I avoid eating a second serving of stuffing? If I workout before the meal will that cancel the damage I am about to do? 

All this changed when I mended my relationship with all foods and learned to TRUST my body and mind. I now eat whatever I want because I know my body will tell me when I am full and I can honor that cue knowing that I can eat more of my most favorite dishes (yummmm apple crisp) tomorrow! 

This feeling and ability has brought me tremendous freedom and peace and I want you to experience the upcoming holidays without the diet culture devil sitting on your shoulder berating your choices. I promise you, pursuing your health is a lot easier when you have a good relationship with food and your body. 

 

In the MINDFUL MODERATION GROUP EXPERIENCE  we will meet weekly  (one hour via zoom)  for three weeks to go through my 3 Step process; REVIEW, RESET & REWIRE.

 

Throughout our time together you will be learning:

-What your PERSONAL moderation is

-How to listen to your bodily cues

-How to trust yourself, what to do if a binge/ over eating occurs

-How to enter into Thanksgiving and the holiday season feeling confident, excited and IN CONTROL around all the holiday foods! 

Week 1-  REVIEW

  • What are your beliefs about food that you have learned about diets?

    • Don’t eat after 7pm

    • Don’t eat carbs

    • Fat is bad for you

    • Dairy is bad for you

    • Only eat brown rice

    • Don’t eat more than 1200 calories

     

Together let’s come up with beliefs that you have built from dieting, (They can be sneaky!!) and then discover

  • How have these rules made you feel, free or burdened? 

  • How often are you thinking about food?

  • What were your goals with dieting and where did dieting get you?

  • What's the best and worst thing to come from years of dieting?

Week  2: RESET

Now that you can see how you think about food and what you prefer you relationship with food would be like how do we reset? 

  • Let’s debunk all your diet beliefs. How has each one of the rules you wrote down taken you away from your ability to trust your body and mind. Why would it be better if you could trust yourself.

  • Instead of thinking of what rules you need to follow in this reset you are going to start to TRUST yourself. Will you really eat cake all day if you give yourself permission to do so?

  • Learn about physical / mental restriction.

  • How can you begin to honor your hunger? How would it make you feel to eat whatever you want whenever you want? Out of control? Scared? Like you’ll gain a lot of weight? Can you commit to trusting this process?

  • Feeling your fullness and being present in the eating experience.

  • Eating satisfying foods.

  • PRACTICE EATING FOODS IN YOUR PERSONAL MODERATION.

 

 

Week 3- REWIRE

  • Recognize what diet culture mentality is showing up as you let go of the rules.

  • Can you go to the grocery store and buy Oreos without looking at the nutrition label? What anxiety comes up? How do you combat that.

  • What are the voices in your head saying when you sit and eat food like pizza vs. a salad.

  • In order to rewire your brain we have to be able to recognize the old patterns that aren’t suiting you. You have to challenge the diet culture devil sitting on your shoulder.

  • What freedoms come up when you give yourself unconditional permission to eat?

  • How is social media impacting your relationship to food?

  • Learn about neuroscience and how you can create new neural pathways that will lead to you trusting yourself around all foods. 

  •  As you rewire you will be finding YOUR PERSONAL moderation.
